They fail to manage how administration took pay raises while all 3 unions in the district are now without contract. Cut the bottom but give more to the top should not be acceptable.

Renee did an amazing job! She even went and helped her patients during the night of the fire. It's a damn shame that the doctor she works with is taking all the credit and constantly bad mouthing her behind her back to her patients! You need to open up your own clinic Renee! We're all behind you!

YES! Thanks for starting this feature. A friend of mine used to whine that "there's nothing to do" and then when there's a blizzard, there's 99 cancellations on the radio for the county...and that's on a winter's day! There's LOTS to do!!!!!!!

the other day I went with a friend down the old train tracks behind Agway and cut the walk to walnut in half which in the full length was 20min from the other side of liberty... Walking. From the middle/high schools the walk it about 10-15 min. I feel that the kids have lots of imagination and tons of heart for what they do, and I feel that the spirit of being young and a kid is still alive and well in the town.

Then the Red Cross did. Renee Hook is running the NV Health donation effort, and doing a marvelous job. Ann Mir and others are coordinating the effort at Capital, and also doing a marvelous job. Yes, they are all doing it because they want to, not because they were waiting for their names in the paper - but if you're going to thank one, thank all, or it's slap in the face to the people who have worked just as long and hard as those mentioned.

Selfless people, not selfish. *shakes head in disbelief* I'm sure the people 'left out' of the Red Cross release go to bed at night feeling good about helping, and aren't wearing t-shirts that say "I HELPED - GRANDVIEW 2012"

Thanks should also be given to Ann Mir, who has worked tirelessly since the fire to organize the accumulation, sorting, and distribution of donations at Capital Storage in Liberty. We are up to two (donated) storage units and counting (thank you, Capital!), and have provided scores of people with clothing and hygiene products. Donations continue to be needed, and to pour in! Furniture and household products are now the main focus of the drive, and will be distributed as victims have places in which to put them. Ann has also arranged with Kaytee Warren at the United Way to obtain grocery vouchers using any cash donations, all of which are being processed directly by the United Way, so that those who are giving may do so with confidence.

phil: when i was younger b4 i had a car... i rode my bike everywhere, skaters skated everywhere... i mean from swan lake to liberty back to swan lake... if you can't take your board and ride it up to walnut, lets just say... then you are lazy and skating and biking in liberty obviously isn't what it used to be...

I personally believe it should be close to town cause half the skaters of liberty leave near town and if it's away from town most won't be able to get there due to lack of transportation..

Here's the HARD TRUTH.

The Town is ready to pull the trigger on down town, but Team Skate has said a park wouldn't fit there.Team Skate wanted Walnut, but that isn't really in the picture anymore. So the search for an alternative location is on that is neither Walnut or downtown.

Parksville, Hanofee, Zalkin Dump, there are plenty of places. Parksville seems cool, they want to get something to be the centerpiece of the 'revival', this could be it.

Bah, getting the town to do anything is like try to take a --. They cant even fix the pot holes on main street! Its really sad it hasn't been built anywhere yet. Anyways talk about big time procrastination. But its okay, as long as the people who run this town are happy it'll probably never be built.

After all its not like they will be going there, they are happy with their bars and mediocre boring life styles with the kids doing absolutely nothing around this area. Besides drugs and crime. This whole --- town is a joke. Just a small town government just as greedy and corrupt as the big times guys. --- pathetic.

Has anyone heard of the term brownfield? or Brownfield Reclamation? Brownfield sites are abandoned or underused industrial and commercial facilities available for re-use. The typical urban planning jargon defines brownfields as lands previously used for industrial purposes or certain commercial uses. The land may be contaminated by low concentrations of pollution or other potentially hazardous wastes, BUT have the potential to be reused once cleaned up. Why can we not find a site within the municipality that can be reclaimed in such a way? One perfect example is the old Zolkins Junk Yard. It's right below the High School, off of Main Street, and near enough to the Police/Fire Dept./etc. to ensure the safety of the children using it. Not to mention all the potential tax breaks attached to the "Green Building" movement. There are a 100 reasons to pick from 100 different sites, but let's really look at the entire town and find a place that benefit not only ans the home of the skate park, but also as a site that shows the community's commitment to rebounding/rebuilding our town.

the elks is terrible too, The Farmers market?!.. The incline, too narrow.... and still in town... young children will be there with no parental guidance< and im sorry but you don't want a 6 year old kid riding on ramps,busting there face open, and then relying on total strangers to help them... walnut will force the youngsters to go there with a parent or an elder...
